Pula, Croatia is on the Istrian Peninsula very close to Italy. Sometimes, I even drive over to Venice, Italy from Pula. To see a photo click on the thumbnail, all photos are copyright, 1999, Jon Newstrom.

Center of Pula. It's a hot weekend afternoon, so few people are out
Pula is known for it's shipyard and harbor.
I highly recommend this hotel. The Valsabbion is family owned, and has the best restaurant in Croatia! I recommend the dent fish (sea bass) in salt!

The Valsabbion serves their food in creative ways. Here the pasta course is served inside a round of cheese. Part of the "Slow Food" movement, dinner at the Valsabbion can take four hours, and worth every minute! Tell Sonja I sent you. And tell Frank that I said Emil has a larger head (ask them). Or for fun tell Emil that Frank has a larger head.
(above and left) Rovinj, Croatia. A small town just a short drive from Pula. A Nice place to visit. You can't get lost as there are only two directions. Up and Down.
